whats the best way to learn about horses and how to look after them without taking a course?
I’m on a full time acting course at the moment but i love horses and would like to learn about them and how to look after them because that would be a perfect back up plan for me. As im on a full time course i cant take on another course. so how can i learn all the stuff i need to know?……… help!
Do you have any experience with horses? If you don’t have any experience, stables will be reluctant to take an unknown volunteer and let them work with horses etc.
Best bet is to take lessons from a reputable establishment (that doesn’t mean it has to be “fancy” or expensive) to gain some experience. Once you’ve proven to them that you are responsible and trustworthy, you may be able to volunteer to expand your experience with horses.
Some places offer an “apprentice” type program — you learn on the job, but aren’t paid for it and start by “mucking out. Depends where you live what’s available…. Good Luck!
