Do horses get calmer with age?
My horse is a 6 year old thoroughbred gelding. He is sometimes amazingly quiet and sometimes spirited and hyper. During the summer he has started to become so hyper that i get a little nervous around him. I work him a lot and he isn’t getting too much grain to make him hyper. Is it just an age thing and do they grow out of it? Or is that just his personality?
Its more then likely his personality and a little bit of his age.I have a 5 month old foal and he bounces off the wall. And he will climb a pile of trash like a goat.Lol.But turn around and look at his mom who is 15 and she is alot more mellow.But she has always been like that.I think it also has to do with the displine.Like how much trouble they got into as a foal.A foal who was kept in their place are more then likely know better.As of a foal who did anything and everything and didn’t learn it was bad.
